Southern Funeral Home was founded in the 1980s and operated as a family-owned business for more than 30 years before becoming abandoned. Located in Georgia, the funeral home permanently closed a few years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic. In its final years, not only was the business under scrutiny from the state funeral board, but online reviews cited worn-out hearses, a lack of professionalism from the staff and owner, and even incorrect grave digging.

From what I have seen, a majority of funeral homes nowadays are corporate owned. Many of the family owned businesses are being bought out or have no one to keep the business operating once the owner dies. Some get caught up in nefarious activities and are forced to close by the state board that oversees their operation.

I have seen many abandoned funeral homes posted on this site and I gotta tell you, this is the poorest, sorriest looking funeral home I have ever seen. It’s very small and creepy looking. Don’t think I would have chosen this one for service, but ok.
