Jones & Little Funeral Home

Jones & Little Funeral Home was established in 1984 in Aberdeen, North Carolina, by mortician Hayward L. Jones and his partner, Ivory Little, who had retired from Proctor Silex in Southern Pines after 20 years of service. Mr. Little enjoyed his newly acquired role as a licensed embalmer. As the business proved successful, the pair became well-respected in Aberdeen as well as across Moore County. In November 1993, Hayward Jones unexpectedly died at home at the age of 64, leaving the funeral business solely to his partner.

For the next 30 years, Ivory Little continued the tradition that he and Hayward began by serving the community in their time of need. During that time, Mr. Little not only directed the funeral of his former partner, but also his wife of more than 60 years, two children, and several other members of his family. Ivory Little retired due to his declining health. The last funeral was performed sometime in 2020, and the funeral home remained under Little’s ownership until he died in 2023. Jones & Little Funeral Home sat abandoned for several years. In 2025, the property was sold and transformed into a U-Haul rental company.

  1. The funeral business is a booming business to get off into, folks pass away every day. Looks like nothing has changed or been upgraded since this funeral was built and occupied for all those many years. The ceiling looks so low, it almost looks creepy. Now with the latest owner’s passing, I wonder if there’s any plans for the family to carry on the business?
